Fall internship positions are available and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until August 15th.
We offer unpaid internships in the following areas: Organizational Development Intern, Farm to School Intern, Intervention Implementation Intern, Curriculum/Nutrition Intern,DGS Data Team Intern, Garden Development Intern, Mabelvale Magnet Middle School Garden Internship, Website Developer Assistant.

Organizational Development Intern
Directly Reports to: Organizational Development Manager in the UAMS Office of Human Resource Coordinator
Minimum number of hours required: 80
Job Description:
Overview: This intern will assist with training and staff development duties in the Office of Human Resources Organizational Development department.
Responsibilities and potential projects include: Coordination of newly launched UAMS Employee Suggestion Program including database management and project management. Other responsibilities may include assistance with Leadership Institute projects and training sessions and coordination of OD’s training programs. This may include logistics planning, location scheduling, setup, ordering food, developing materials, making copies and organizing materials.
Special circumstances: This position may require travel to off site locations in the Little Rock area to assist with trainings.
Requirements: Students with an interest in health care management, human resources, public service leadership, training and development, staff development, leadership development, teambuilding, communication studies and related fields are encouraged to apply.
Perks: While this is an unpaid internship, students will be provided with an opportunity to interact with people from a variety of disciplines across UAMS, learn about the structure and management of a large organization and participate in some exciting projects related to organizational development.
Farm to School Intern
Interested in doing an internship for Delta Garden Study? One spring internship is available and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Directly Reports to: Program Development Coordinator
Minimum number of hours required: 80
Job Description:
Overview: This intern will work with the program development coordinator to assess and address barriers related to farm to school as part of a USDA research initiative.
Responsibilities and potential projects include: Assist planning educational farm, tours for school foodservice professionals, interview farm to school stakeholders, independent study of a related topic, and attend community meetings.
Special circumstances: This position will involve travel for community meetings and site visits.
Requirements: All majors are welcome; however students with an interest in dietetics, agriculture, or business are encouraged to apply.
Perks: Although this is an unpaid internship, it provides the opportunity to participate in the groundwork of a farm to school initiative, network within related areas, and participate in a dynamic team.

Intervention Implementation Intern
Directly Reports to: Intervention Program Manager

Job Description:
Overview: This position will assist the Intervention Program Manager in the implementation of the Delta Garden Study full-scale intervention in middle schools in the north and south eastern parts of the state.
Responsibilities and potential projects include: Preparation and assimilation of curriculum materials for middle school teachers and students; development of tools to better foster communication, streamline administrative tasks, and conduct community outreach; write and edit stories for our online newsletter; assistance with school garden development and maintenance; communication with school administrators, faculty and staff, and process evaluation.
Special circumstances: This position may involve travel for community meetings and site visits.
Requirements: All majors are welcome, however students with an interest in program development, implementation and evaluation and public health research are encouraged to apply.
Perks: Although this is an unpaid internship, it provides the opportunity to participate in a large multi-site School Garden Research study and be involved with a wide variety of activities to assist with the development of the study. This will be a wonderful opportunity to gain research experience with a dedicated and knowledgeable staff. Lunch is provided for interns who work 7+ hours per day.

Curriculum/Nutrition Intern
Directly Reports to: Curriculum Development Manager
Minimum number of hours required: 120
Job Description:
Overview: This intern will assist the Curriculum Development Manager in all aspects of the Delta Garden Study Curriculum Development.
Responsibilities and potential projects include: Tasks could include: editing lessons, research, writing, brainstorming ideas, assistance with presentations and teacher trainings, developing materials lists, developing process evaluations and quizzes etc. This intern will also have an opportunity to work with a Registered Dietitian on nutrition fact sheets, recipes and recipe analysis, 24-hour recall and other nutrition related tasks.
Special circumstances: This position may involve travel for community meetings and site visits.
Requirements: All majors are welcome; however, students with an interest in dietetics, outdoor education or agriculture education are encouraged to apply.

DGS Data Team Intern
Intern will report to Manager of Data Processes
Minimum number of hours required:80 hours
Job Description:
Overview: This intern will assist with all data related activities, (including but not limited to data entry, data collection and data processing) with the Delta Garden Study and other working projects.
Responsibilities and potential projects (depending on skills and interest): Copying, editing/revising forms, creating labels, preparing and organizing packets for data collection, de-identifying records and folders, reviewing folders for missing or incomplete data forms, creating spreadsheets and reports, data entry and form design, data collection folder filing and folder organization, and other duties as required.
Special circumstances: This position may include statewide travel to assist with intervention/control school data collection.
Requirements: Students with an interest in psychology, dietetics, agriculture, statistics, math or a related discipline are encouraged to apply.
Perks: While this is an unpaid internship, students will be provided with a multidisciplinary hands-on experience in research related activities focusing on obesity prevention.

Garden Development Intern
Direct Supervisor Title: Garden Development Coordinator
Minimum number of hours required: 80
Job Description:
Overview: This position will assist with development of new school garden, and support of existing gardens. Delta Garden Study gardens integrate organic gardens, greenhouses, rainwater harvesting systems, vermiculture, season extension and chickens into productive learning laboratories that school-based Garden Program Specialists use to deliver the science based curriculum. This position will participate in project design, implementation and management of the new Delta Garden Study gardens.
Responsibilities include: Assist with project design and implementation. Research and assist in sourcing garden supplies and materials. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying resources available in respective communities, and strategizing how to deliver materials to job sites in most cost effective and efficient manner.
Special circumstances: This position will involve travel for site visits.

Mabelvale Magnet Middle School Garden Internship
Direct Supervisor Title: Garden Development Coordinator
Minimum number of hours required: 80
Job Description:
Overview: This position will work under the supervision of the Garden Development Coordinator, and will maintain the organic gardens, greenhouse, rainwater harvesting systems and vermiculture operation at Mabelvale Magnet Middle School. This position will provide an enthusiastic young person with an amazing opportunity to work in a climate controlled greenhouse. The student selected for this internship will get valuable experience working with expert gardeners and awesome resources.
Responsibilities include: This position will maintain the existing gardens at Mabelvale Magnet School so that they are productive and beautiful. This position will work with the Garden Development Coordinator to develop a plan for succession planting, crop rotation, companion planting and inter-planting. In addition this person will be responsible for irrigation and on site supervision of volunteers. The student intern will be required to keep records and submit a weekly report on progress at Mabelvale Magnet Middle School.
Special circumstances: This position will involve travel to Mabelvale Magnet Middle School which is a short 15-20 minute commute from Midtown Little Rock.

Website Developer Assistant
Directly Reports to:Manager of Intervention Programs
Minimum number of hours required:80
Job Description:
Overview:This intern will work with our Program Manager and Website Developer to enhance our Delta Garden Study website and digital communication.
Responsibilities and potential projects include:Assist in developing the website using Joomla 1.5. Tasks included, but aren't limited to editing and adding pictures, editing videos, updating website modules and plug-ins to enhance the look and feel of the website. Joomla experience is not needed in order to apply.
Special circumstances: None.
Requirements: All majors are welcome; however, students with an interest in web design, digital communication, and healthy food systems are encouraged to apply.
Perks: Although this is an unpaid internship, it provides the opportunity to participate in the groundwork of a farm to school initiative, network within related areas, and participate in a dynamic team. Free lunch is available in the ACH cafeteria for those who work at least seven hours a day.
